Orumieh Lake :This lake is 20Kms.for from orumieh City. At Golmankhaneh harbour, these are coastal beaches ready to welcome dear travellers.  Inside  this  lake there are  numerous  beautiful  islands  where wild  beasts   and  birds  live  and  which  is  protected as  a national park

The water of this lake, containing natural salts and muds is used by patients who suffer of dermal and rheumatic troubles.

Kabbodan Island: Kabbodan Island (Ghouyoun Daghi) is second biggest island of the lake after the Eslami residential island. It surface area is 3170 hectares with length of 12 Kms and width of 2.5 Kms., Located at the extreme end of the south of the lake. Its altitude above the sea level is 1275 m. The highest point of the island has an altitude of 1600m. The Damdameh spring is the only source of water of this Island used by animals such as wild rams and ewes. This Island is covered by steppes plants and forest wild small trees grown singly or in mass. On coasts and around the Island, is living a large number of birds like flamingos, immigrant pelikans, wild goose, and kakal. Hunting is probilited in this Island and the entrance therein is subject to authorization given by the Environment Protection Department of Province.

Short history of Orumieh City:Orumieh , center of West Azarbaijan Province is one of the old cities of Iran whose antiquity goes back to 2000 B.C. This city is located in a vast and green plain surrounded by vineyards and apple trees and farms for several kilometers. There are different stories about the city name. Some of the historians believe that its same was Chichast and same others believe that Orumieh has been taken from the two words "Our" meaning place, and "mia" meaning water.

Interesting and Touristic sites in Orumieh:

Jameh Mosque: This monument is located inside Orumieh market (Bazaar) and its original building relates to the 2nd half of the 7th century of Hegira. The building of its domical vault and big nave is interesting from the architectural point of view. From the view point of plaster works and lines, the Mosque Mihrab is among the most beautiful mongolian art works.

SARDAR MOSQUE: Located at Imam Avenue is one of the old beautiful monuments of this city.

SEA GONBAD: This monument is located at Pasdaran Ave. and belongs to the 6th century of Hejira. As some of historians say the said monument is the Seljukian mausoleum.

ORUMIEH BAZAAR: The old Orumieh Bazaar (market) is one of the interesting sites and consists of a set of bazaar such as; grocers; goldsmiths, Cloth dealers, coppersmiths, shoemakers, felt makers, dyers, tinsmiths and knife makers. Its antiquity goes back to the 7th lunar century of Hegira coinciding with Zandieh and Qajar eras. (The products of this city are: grapes, apples, honey and dairy products which are important export items. Important gifts which could be brought by travellers are engravings, woodwork, willow comfits, egyptian willow water, walnut sweetpaste, Carrot sweetpaste which are much appreciated in winters. Wool hand woven articles of this city are also famous)

Orumieh Museum: This museum is located at Shahid Dr. Beheshti Avenue where we can see objects from prehistoric eras as well as old objects and things related to decorative national arts, anthropology and manuscripts. The Orumieh Museum open to public`s visite all week days.

BAND RECREATION PARK: This place is located at 6 Kms of Orumieh City on route of Dr. Beheshti Avenue.

DARREH GHASEMLOU RECREATION PARK: This park is one of the natural gifts of Ghasemlou Valley. Persons interested in hunting and promenade in nature can go to this park. It is 36 Kms. far from Orumieh.

NAZLOU RECREATION PARK: This locality is situated at 20 Kms. of orumieh - Sero. Road.

SEIR RECREATION PARK: This locality is situated on Seir mountain sioperat 7Kms of Orumieh.
